What People Are Saying

You’ve had an enormous impact on my career

Everything is going fantastic and I couldn’t be happier

I attribute my changes to you because you most certainly were the catalyst.

I’m here today because you exist

Below are the unedited and raw words from a few of my clients.

Hello Ms. Hawley,
I just want to say that I’m here today because you exist and I met you. You are one of my favorite people in the world. No matter what my views on life are, I am really thankful that I am your client.  I’m sure that I am one of the many that feel this way. Thank you very much for doing your job well, for your kindness, dedication, and for being real.

“Hello Ms. Gwen! It’s been a few years, and I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am to have had you to point me in the right direction! Everything is going fantastic and I couldn’t be happier! I graduated high school a year early and I am a sophomore in college now!
I just thought that I would let you know how much I appreciated everything you did for me. I am not on any medication now and have acquired a healthy and active lifestyle! All of my auto-immune issues that caused me so much distress have gone into long term remission and I feel great! Thank you!
I was always excited to see you and it was one of the brightest parts of my week! Your style was perfect for me, as it never seemed “overly-clinical” and you never made me feel as though you just counseled for a “job”. It really showed how much you enjoyed helping others and I cherished the amount of trust I could put in you. I loved how you cared not only how I was emotionally, but also about my day-to-day life!

“I feel like it’s really important to actually tell people when they have played a major role in your life, as you did in mine!” ~ Lauren

“I feel like it’s really important to actually tell people when they have played a major role in your life, as you did in mine!
I have always aspired to emulate not just how you are with clients but also how kind and supportive you were to me when I had no experience and was just trying to figure out the job itself, let alone what that means for me as a person and then who I want to be in that role. I hope I can do you proud!
I think about you frequently, you’ve had an enormous impact on my career. I reference you often in my teaching. The way you handled yourself, always so calm and with such grace. Always prioritizing self care, always with faith and gratitude. It’s pretty rare to find that and I count myself very lucky to have had a supervisor who was all those things. When I talk about the trajectory of my career I often say that Bruce Perry (who I have never met but have seen speak and also just love his work) and you were my two biggest influences. I am wrapping up my yoga certification right now because I intend to use it to help with my trauma work and the like. I know how much you instilled the respect for and the attention to the mind/body connection when you were supervising me. This is just another extension of that! So thank you for that… I just wanted to let you know.
~ Lauren (prior intern now LCSW, professor and clinician)
Dear Gwen,
I wanted to reach out to you in gratitude and amazement. I figure it’s not often that you get to hear about the long term impacts you have had on the world.
You worked with me for a year; I was miserable at work, struggling to manage food and health (they are completely connected for me), and my mom was terminally ill living 1000 miles away. You helped me reclaim my independence. You helped me when
my dog died, and you empowered me with lessons about nutrition and my relationship with food. You taught me how to stand up for myself and how to care for myself. The list goes on and on.
At the same time you were working with me; I was developing a strong friendship with Arie. We spent most of our time walking and talking. Arie had never had a weight issue, she ate as she liked; but in 2010 her father had a horrific heart attack and was near death in a coma. Arie started experiencing periods of lethargy and malaise. Her father’s experience, along with her general feeling of “ick”, jolted something in Arie, mainly her own mortality and sense of well-being. She began asking me about food and nutrition. I shared what you had taught me along with what you had inspired me to learn on my own. She changed her diet, she educated herself; and today she eats a beautiful, primarily plant based, organic diet. She feels great, looks great, and at 50 years old has begun studying to be a holistic nutritionist.
She attributes her changes to me, but I attribute my changes to you because you most certainly were the catalyst.
But wait there’s more, Arie has altered the quality of many lives around her as well. Particularly her boyfriend’s daughter who was unknowingly living with food sensitivities/allergies. A diet change has improved the quality of her life exponentially!!! By seeing such huge changes in his daughter, Arie’s boyfriend has changed his diet from fast foods to whole, nutrient dense foods. He has cured his acid reflux, dropped 15 lbs and increased his energy.
There’s more…..Back to me, I’ve also inspired my two nieces, 22 and 25. The 22 year old eats beautifully, has a healthy relationship with food, and eats to feel good knowing looking good comes with it. The 25 year old is more of a carb addict, although I am gently encouraging changes. After living with me for six weeks, she discovered that she is lactose intolerant and is changing her food choices.
In March 2011 my mom died. I had exactly 1 year with her after I made the move from IL back to MA. It was the most precious year of my life. And being nearby was the greatest gift I could have ever given her; I’ll never regret it.
I will be forever grateful for all the guidance and tools you provided me; I put them to good and regular use. I just wanted to say thank you and let you know you have impacted many lives; and you have helped save mine.
I just loved that you understood the depth of my sensitivity and could truly help me find ways to work through things. I’ve found a new therapist to work with, and I like her, but she just doesn’t quite get ‘it’. No one will ever match your perfection! 🙂 I consider our paths crossing when they did true divine intervention.
With gratitude,
~ Melanie

Gwen literally saved my life and I cannot praise her enough. She is the epitome of professionalism with a warm, gentle, loving heart. She is committed to fast healing (she won’t waste your time OR your money!!) and getting to the core of issues to get you living your healthiest life ASAP. Gwen is HIGHLY skilled at EMDR therapy – if you haven’t heard of it or tried it, do it! I am so very thankful for her <3

I have been a patient of Gwens for over 3 years! I when I first met her, I knew I was in the best hands to be taken care of and get me to a place that I would be stronger and happier and more self confident! Gwen has guided me in dealing with my PTSD, my family’s drama( past and present), my having a hysterectomy and the mental pain, I had after the surgery. She is sooo supporting and caring!! I am so grateful to have her there to listen to me and making me feel better and giving me the tools to have more control over the drama in my life. She is a wonderful blessing!

Gwen is fabulous!! She is a gift to her profession and all her clients. I have been in therapy with her for about eight months and everything in my life is shifting: my mindset, my boundaries, my relationships, my health, my wealth, my happiness. I feel like she is lifting a veil and showing me how I can live my life, in full peace and power, knowing who I am and why I’m here. She listens with her heart and teaches me so much! She’s shown me a way out of my bad habits and poverty-thinking and helped me release trauma from decades of narcissistic abuse to finally rise up and become who I am. My mother, my father, my brother, my ex—have all mistreated me and left me feeling less than worthy. Gwen lifted me up and offered me genuine care and understanding. She has held my hand and guided me through EMDR therapy to release terrible memories and finally move on without replaying them in my mind. I have always considered myself strong, but I didn’t even see all the unnecessary burdens I was carrying. Now I am strong in a whole different way. I am so thankful for Gwen and her empathetic heart and loving soul. She has changed my life! You are lucky if you get to be her client. Her world is safe and right and loving. Each session is like leveling up with love, wisdom, and power! Pearls!!
